One pattern.
Loads of possibilities.

The Herta itself is simple. What makes it powerful is how many different ways you can use it.

Change where it starts. Move it around the kit. Shift the orchestration. Combine it with other patterns. Play it at different tempos.

The goal isn’t to remember 30 fills forever. It’s to build enough familiarity with the Herta that it becomes part of your vocabulary.

The aim is to build vocabulary — not collect exercises.

I was struggling with ideas involving Hertas, but after seeing some of Ryan’s reels I thought they were a technique I could implement into my own fills. Having the fills scored really helped with the visual side, and the slow and fast demonstrations made it much easier to break them down, feel them properly and understand how they worked.

I’d recommend them to drummers whose fills are lacking variation in subdivision. They’re a great way to spice up your fills while still complementing the grooves you’re playing.
